FCCA Cruise Conference

The Dominican Republic will host the 28th Annual Conference of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), to be held from October 11-14 this year in the city of Santo Domingo.

After making the announcement, President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado highlighted the importance of the event, which is the largest cruise conference and trade show in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America.

President Abinader said that the government will give its full support to ensure the success of the annual FCCA conference, which will be held in the country for the second time.

He assured that the event is the ideal platform to continue positioning cruise tourism in the different markets.

“We have a shared success story with FCCA and I guarantee that together we will reach the port of progress and more jobs,” said the president at the head of the activity.

Minister Collado highlighted the importance of the FCCA conference to ensure a greater push for cruise tourism in the Dominican Republic.

“Cruise tourism has a direct impact on the country’s economy. It generates more than 4,000 direct jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs,” said Collado.

He recalled that this industry also generates more than 135 million dollars, which is felt directly in the economy of Dominicans.

The president of the FCCA, Adam Ceserano, highlighted the success achieved by the Dominican Republic in the recovery of tourism, including the cruise industry.

FCCA Cruise ConferenceCeserano said that the Dominican Republic is ideal to host the 28th version of the FCCA’s annual conference, which will have a positive impact on the development and strengthening of the cruise industry in the country.

“With the country’s support, we will return to the splendor we had before the pandemic,” said the FCCA president.

The conference will be attended by more than 60 cruise executives, including presidents and directors, top government leaders from more than 40 countries, as well as more than 500 representatives from various parts of the world.

The conclave provides the perfect forum to develop mutual understanding and relationships to enhance the cruise tourism business among the participants.

This 28th version of the FCCA conference will be the ideal platform for the country to showcase the products and services it offers to the cruise industry, which has registered sustained growth in the Dominican Republic.

During the month of May 2022, 82,199 cruise passengers arrived in the Dominican Republic on 10 cruise lines, carrying out 32 operations, of which 19 were cruise ships and 13 were ferries.

Meanwhile, from July 2021 to May 2022, an accumulated 754,760 cruise passengers were registered, on 51 cruise lines, with 458 operations.

Due to the importance of the cruise industry for the country, MITUR has been an active Platinum member of the FCCA since 2001. As a Platinum member, it receives support from the FCCA and all its affiliates (Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian, Princess Cruise, to name a few).

Belonging to the FCCA is vital to be able to negotiate new arrivals, technical support for the improvement of ports already in existence or future projects, improvements in customer service programs and other key points of the industry which will help to further strengthen this segment for the country in the future.
