This Friday, August 16, President Luis Abinader will be sworn in for a new term as President of the country, after being reelected in the last elections of May.
Below, we share the program of activities to be carried out by the President of the Republic, which was shared this afternoon by the Presidency of the Republic:
On the morning of Thursday, August 15, official delegations, presidents, crown princes, vice presidents and first ladies are expected to arrive for Abinader’s swearing-in ceremony.
From 8:00 to 10:00 pm at the Santo Domingo Fortress a reception will be held in honor of the heads of state, first ladies, crown princes, vice presidents, heads of special missions and official delegations according to the established format.
National Congress
At 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, the installation of the members of the National Assembly will take place at the National Congress headquarters.
National Theater
While at 9:30 a.m., the heads of Special Missions will be making their entrance to the Eduardo Brito National Theater. 20 minutes later, will be the arrival of the heads of state, first ladies, crown princes of reigning houses and vice presidents of state.
At 10:30 a.m., Luis Abinader and Raquel Peña will be sworn in as president and vice president of the Dominican Republic in the Carlos Piantini hall of the National Theater.
Altar of the Homeland
At 12:45 pm, the president and vice-president, accompanied by the government cabinet and other officials, will go to the Altar of the Homeland to lay a wreath in homage to the founders of the Republic.
National Palace
At 1:15 p.m., Abinader and Peña will receive the governors or representatives of other nations in the Ambassadors Hall of the National Palace.
From 1:30 to 3:00 in the afternoon, President Abinader will offer a lunch in the Las Cariátides hall to the heads of state, first ladies, crown princes of reigning houses, vice presidents of state, heads of special missions and official delegations in accordance with the established format. The press will not have access to this meeting.
At 3:30 in the afternoon, the members of the Cabinet will be sworn in before President Abinader in the Ambassadors Hall.
After this, at 4:30 in the afternoon, the heads of state will move to the Catedral Primada de América.
Finally, at 8:00 pm, the president will offer a reception to international guests and high officials of the country.
On Saturday, August 17, the official delegations will depart.
