ProDominicana highlights business and investment opportunities in Dubai

ProDominicana expo DubáiProDominicana expo DubáiAs part of the celebration of Dominican Republic National Day at Expo Dubai 2020, the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana) organized the “Country Business Briefing”, in which companies, diplomatic representatives, investors and potential buyers from the United Arab Emirates had access to information on strategic sectors of Dominican trade and trade opportunities with the country.

Biviana Riveiro Disla, executive director of ProDominicana, said that the country maintains a constant and stable growth, thanks to the productive export policies, our strategic location as a Logistics Hub and investment attraction that drives the country.

“The performance we have had is thanks to the joint work of the government, companies, the international network of embassies and the strategic approach contained in the National Plan for the Promotion of Exports, coupled with the generation of confidence in investors that has driven President Luis Abinader,” said Riveiro.

It is worth noting that the trade exchange between the Dominican Republic and the United Arab Emirates, during the period 2015 to 2021, was US$ 128.7 million. Of this, 65.1% corresponded to exports of goods, which grew from US$6 million in 2020 to US$31 million in 2021.

The strategic sectors that offer the greatest business opportunities between the two nations are: Agriculture, Agribusiness, Industry and Free Trade Zones. The benefits of the tourism sector and its performance in the country were also presented.

During the presentation, ProDominicana’s Export Director, Jaime Licairac, highlighted the country’s sectoral attributes that make it attractive for foreign investment and the installation of new companies.

Finally, the executive director extended an invitation to the participants to learn about the Dominican Republic’s export and investment offers and to enjoy the climate and commercial advantages that the country offers to buyers and investors.

The director of ProDominicana was part of the official delegation for the National Day at the Dubai Expo 2020. This “Country Business Briefing” event was attended by the ProDominicana team, the ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Julio Castaños Zouain; the deputy minister Hugo Rivera, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the director of Customs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, among others.
