This July 11, the tourist destination of Puerto Plata received through the Amber Cove port the Carnival Vista and Carnival Venezia cruise ships, with a combined total of 12,505 visitors from all over the world.
“The arrival of visitors through these cruise ships continues to strengthen the industry without chimneys, which is the main source of employment in the northern zone,” indicated Yokasta Almonte, in charge of the tourism office.
The Carnival Vista brought 4,802 visitors and 1,391 crew members, while the Carnival Venezia brought 4,932 visitors and 1,380 crew members. The Amber Cove port has been fundamental in the rebirth of cruise ship arrivals to the “Bride of the Atlantic”, where Isabel de Torres Mountain welcomes thousands of visitors.
The constant arrival of cruise ships not only boosts tourism, but also strengthens the local economy, providing employment and development to Puerto Plata and its surroundings, according to RS Noticias.
