Acroarte begins evaluations for Soberano Awards 2025

As part of the guild’s work schedule established in its bylaws, the Association of Art Critics (Acroarte) held this weekend the first evaluation meetings for Premios Soberano 2025.

During two days, the jurors in the Cinema, Classic, Communication and Popular categories evaluated the works corresponding to the first semester of the year in the fields of entertainment and art.

“After celebrating a successful 39th edition of the awards, with a historic broadcast by Univision for the United States, the president of the guild, Wanda Sanchez, said that now the challenge is much greater.

In our last edition, Dominicans in the country and in the diaspora were able to proudly celebrate Dominican talent. The ceremony had acceptance levels of over 90% in terms of Acroarte’s performance in the selection of the winners, while the television show reached a rating of 12.51 at its highest point of audience, and a share of 34.54% on the local channel. Undoubtedly, we managed to renew the confidence of the national artist class and the Dominican people in our award and now we have a much bigger challenge’, he said.

Sánchez pointed out that these first evaluations mark the beginning of one of the most neuralgic phases in the organization of Premios Soberano, as they determine who will be the artists nominated for the next edition of Premios Soberano. At the end of this year, the Executive Committee will again convene the juries to hold the second evaluation meetings, and thus complete the analysis of the performance of local entertainment in the various categories being evaluated.

Sánchez indicated that the Film and Classical juries reviewed Dominican productions in the seventh art, as well as the premieres of plays. Meanwhile, the juries of the Communication and Popular categories, now internally divided for the evaluations in four sub-areas – Television Programs, Communicators, Artists and Music – debated extensively on the artistic performance in these categories.

Acroarte’s National Executive Committee, headed by Wanda Sánchez, is made up of Ney Zapata, Marivell Contreras, José D’Laura, Eugenio Pérez, Roberto Gerónimo, Enrique Medina, Belkys Castillo and Santiago Acevedo.
