The Dominican Republic will carry out two activities to promote its culture and national identity during the FITUR 2022 International Tourism Fair, which will be held from January 19 to 23 in Madrid, Spain.
On Tuesday, January 18, the mural entitled “Dominican Republic, Reserved for you” will be inaugurated at 6 p.m. at the Santo Domingo metro station, located on Gran Vía, and will remain there for two years thanks to the collaboration of the Madrid Metro authorities.
The design and realization of the mural has been in charge of the Dominican artist Wanda Cortorreal, who has moved from Santo Domingo for its elaboration and who has been accompanied by the Dominican artist living in Spain, Gerson Rodríguez; coordinated under the direction of Héctor Farías of the Activando Cultura movement.
On Thursday, January 20, the fountain of the emblematic Plaza de Cibeles will be illuminated with the colors of the flag of the Dominican Republic. The Dominican President, Mr. Luis Abinader, will be present for the lighting at 6:30 pm.
The illumination will also be maintained on the evening of Friday, January 21.
These initiatives have been made possible by the sponsorship of Banco de Reservas with the coordination of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic to the Kingdom of Spain.
