The General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE) is launching the 13th edition of the Public Competition of the Film Promotion Fund 2024 (FONPROCINE), and invites Dominican filmmakers to participate in the call for entries, which will be open until September 13 of this year.
The FONPROCINE Public Competition dedicates its funds to support and promote innovation and diversity in Dominican film production. It aims to empower and strengthen the next generation of filmmakers, primarily by supporting emerging filmmakers and providing them with resources to carry out projects that challenge and bring significant cultural impact. Its objective is to offer a platform to filmmakers, promoting the diversity of visions in projects and finally directing funds to the materialization of proposals.
FONPROCINE has been presenting an important institutionalization since 2021 due to the robustness it has achieved as a cinematographic seal of the country and, at the same time, due to the strategic collaborations it has achieved. Likewise, for the significant increase it has presented in cash prizes, awarding more than 21 million pesos in its different categories and in the FONPROCINE Advisory Program, which is being held for the third consecutive year.
For this edition, 11 projects will be awarded in the following categories: Project Development; Short Film Production; Animation Short Film Production; Fiction and/or Documentary and/or Animation Feature Film Production; Documentary Post-Production and the new Minority Co-Production Support Line.
