The recent edition of the Travel Sale 2024, organized by the Colombian Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CCCE), saw Rome and Punta Cana stand out as the international destinations most purchased by travelers, while San Andrés, Cartagena and Santa Marta led domestic preferences.
During eight days of discounts and promotions, more than one million Colombians connected with the offers, allowing thousands of travelers to access travel packages, flights and accommodations at unbeatable prices.
Despegar.com revealed that 65% of purchases made during the Travel Sale corresponded to international travel, with an increase of 7% compared to previous weeks. Rome, in particular, experienced a 200% growth in sales, thanks to its fascinating history and stunning architecture.
For domestic destinations, San Andres, Cartagena and Santa Marta continued to be the preferred destinations, registering significant growth compared to the period prior to the event. Viajes Falabella reported a 65% increase in the sale of packages to these destinations, underscoring the reactivation of tourism in the country.
The 25-34 age group showed the greatest interest in travel offers, representing 13.3% of total participation. This was followed by the 18 to 24 and 35 to 44 age groups. A remarkable 42% of the redirects to the different e-commerce sites were through the mega deals button, evidencing the attractiveness of these promotions.
María Fernanda Quiñones, president of the CCCE, commented that “The Travel Sale 2024 exceeded all expectations. We reached record numbers and generated 997,139 redirects and 22,321,258 impressions on the landing page. Popular destinations such as San Andres, Cartagena and Santa Marta attracted travelers with their irresistible promotions. Finally, we were able to get more than one million users to register, demonstrating their interest in acquiring the best tourism discounts.
He highlighted the growing confidence of Colombians in electronic shopping when portals offer guarantees and follow security recommendations. Bogota stood out as the city with the highest participation, representing 42% of the total number of users interested in the offers, followed by Medellin and Cali.
“It was a great day in which Colombians demonstrated their confidence and ratified their passion for tourism. From different parts of the country we registered good figures and this is an endorsement for the various players in the industry. The Colombian Chamber of Electronic Commerce celebrates this achievement and thanks the participating companies, sponsors and especially Colombians for their great reception to the event,” he said.
