President Luis Abinader arrived in Panama City on a Copa Airlines commercial flight from José Francisco Peña Gómez Las Américas International Airport to meet with his counterparts, Panamanian Laurentino Cortizo Cohen and Carlos Alvarado Quezada of Costa Rica.
His arrival took place at 8:05 a.m. local time, one hour earlier than in the Dominican Republic.
The President was received by Ambassador Violeta Mazara, Panama’s Vice Chancellor Daira Carrizo Castilleros and the Dominican Consul in Panama, Robert Polanco.
Upon his arrival, Abinader informed that he will talk with his counterparts on migration issues, the promotion of democratic values, trade and economic development of his countries.
The meeting will be held at the presidential palace Las Garzas, located in the Casco Antiguo of the Panamanian capital, in front of the Bay of Panama.
Last September 22, within the framework of the Alliance, the three presidents issued a joint communiqué in which they expressed their deep concern about the crisis Haiti is going through and the growing impact it is having on the region, particularly the serious migratory consequences, and pleaded with the international community for solutions for that country.
This meeting will follow up on the “Alliance for the strengthening of democratic institutions”, signed by the three presidents in the framework of the United Nations General Assembly last September, and which aims to address areas of common interest and priorities for the foreign policy of Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Panama.
Meeting
Likewise, the Dominican President has scheduled a meeting with the affiliate of the Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) in Panama and his return is scheduled for tonight.
