President Luis Abinader, through Decree 581-21, created the National Citizen Security System, under the Ministry of Interior and Police, to manage the execution of actions, programs, policies and plans conceived within the framework of the National Integral Strategy for Citizen Security “My Safe Country”.
This will be integrated by professionals from different areas of social sciences, technical and professional knowledge.
“A technical body is constituted for the execution of actions, programs, plans and policies, called Implementation Management Directorate, made up of professionals from different areas of social sciences, technical and professional knowledge, which will be under the structure and organizational function of the Ministry of Interior and Police, entity which by its nature is responsible for promoting and executing citizen security policies,” says paragraph 2 of the decree.
According to the President, the System is created because the Dominican Republic requires a National System of Citizen Security with sources of truthful, timely and reliable information, which allows the execution of public policies in matters of social prevention of crime with an integral character, on the causes that generate the same and other antisocial behaviors.
Likewise, to execute programs and actions to promote civic and cultural values in society that induce respect and protection of victims, which also allows characterizing and following up on the situation of insecurity, crime and violence.
