The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (INDOTEL) and Altice Dominicana formally signed the first addendum to the concession contract to include the frequencies from 3400 to 3500 MHz, awarded in a past tender aimed at deploying the 5G network in the country.
The agreement was signed by Ana Figueiredo, CEO of Altice Dominicana, and Julissa Cruz Abreu, executive director of INDOTEL, in a ceremony that was headed by Nelson Arroyo, president of the Board of Directors of the regulatory body, as well as other senior executives of Altice. The signing ceremony was held at the INDOTEL’s multi-purpose hall.
According to the agreement, Altice, adds to its minimum expansion plan, the commitment to execute the deployment of the 5G network offering a download speed higher than 60Mbps for each 10MHz block assigned.
During the signing of the agreement, Figueiredo highlighted Altice’s commitment to promote the development of next-generation technologies that allow the country to be at the technological forefront and have greater connectivity and browsing speed.
“We have made the investments in adaptations to our infrastructure and we are completely ready to put in the hands of Dominicans, starting in 2022, the true technological revolution that will support their greatest evolution. With Altice’s global experience in 5G development, we will boost the application of this technology, ensuring a direct impact on the welfare and growth of this great country, made of life, made of fiber”, said Ana Figueiredo.

Nelson Arroyo said: “It is a great satisfaction for us to sign this addendum to the telecommunication services concession contracts with Altice. This fact strengthens every day the foreign investment climate in the Dominican Republic and reflects the confidence in the legal security of the government headed by President Luis Abinader”.
This first addendum to the concession contract establishes the payment terms to comply with the economic offer presented in the bidding for the amount of Twenty Million Six Hundred Seventy Eight Thousand United States Dollars 00/100 (USD $20,678,000.00) payable in four equal and consecutive installments in the years 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
With this important milestone Altice joins the support for the implementation of Decree number 539-20 by virtue of which the Dominican government declared of high national interest the right of universal access to the latest generation broadband internet as part of the strategy to boost technological connectivity through the development of the National Broadband Plan and the deployment of the 5G network in the country.
