Inkia expands Dominican Republic portfolio with new solar concession

The Dominican energy commission, CNE, granted IE DR Projects I a provisional concession for the 70MWn Peravia Solar II project.

The company, which is controlled by Inkia Energy, submitted the concession application in March for the proposed park in Baní, Peravia province.

IE DR Projects I already has a provisional concession for Peravia Solar I (70MWn), while Inkia operates the 50MW Agua Clara wind farm in the country.

The CNE also granted a provisional concession to fuel terminal operator Coastal Petroleum Dominicana for the 100MWn Coastal Solar project in San Pedro de Macoris province. This concession application was submitted in June.

BNamericas previously reported that another hydrocarbons company looking to expand its commercial reach is Tropigas Dominicana with the 43MWn (50.32MWp) Martí PV project.

IE DR Projects I and Coastal Petroleum Dominicana now have 18 months to conduct additional studies to obtain final concessions.

In other solar developments, the commission recommended that the executive division grant a final concession to Enren for the 50.6MWn (58.2MWp) Calabaza phase one project, and authorized Soventix Caribe to carry out studies for Zonaxol’s 44MWn (60MWp) Zonaxol project.
