MESCYT and Loyola sign agreement to train 600 young people in the area of technology

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT) and the Instituto Especializado de Estudios Superiores Loyola (IEESL), signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement with the objective of guaranteeing a quality education in its curricular structure that will allow the professional success of graduates in their professional performance.

The agreement was signed by the head of the MESCYT, Dr. Franklin García Fermín and the rector of the IEESL, José Rafael Nuñez Mármol, who highlighted the impact that these facilities will have for outstanding students in a state of economic vulnerability so that they can have access to high level studies.

Garcia Fermin, said that this agreement goes in the direction of the national development strategy, to strengthen a number of young people who will be prepared as technologists in careers that today are of paramount importance for the development and progress of the Dominican Republic.

“The MESCYT’s mission is to guarantee Dominicans a quality education through the formation of free, ethical, critical and creative men and women, capable of building a free, democratic, just and supportive society and in this way favor national development and their own,” added García Fermin.

José Rafael Nuñez Mármol, said that the institute aims to train and specialize professionals in the careers of technologists: mechatronics, design and manufacturing, electricity, food processing, software development, networks and computer security, in the search for solutions to local and national problems, through the establishment of strategic alliances that promote the development of research and entrepreneurship.

The agreement establishes that the signatory institutions will collaborate jointly to encourage and develop educational actions, according to availability, aimed at promoting the continuous improvement of the quality of life of technologists contributing to the sustained development of the country.

Both parties agreed that they are interested in promoting and developing collaboration mechanisms to join efforts and available resources for the development of academic programs at the higher technical level, as well as any other activity typical of the work of higher academic educational institutions.

Present were the head of Mescyt, Franklin García Fermin, the vice-minister of Mescyt, José A. Cancel, the rector of the Instituto Superior de Estudios Superiores (LOYOLA), José Rafael Nuñez Mármol, the director of Institutional Projection, Loida M. Doñé, director of the Faculty of Engineering, Carlos Pereyra, director of Postgraduate Studies, Carlos Ortiz.
