Spanish-Dominican business sector committed to fostering trade relations between the DR and Spain

The Spanish-Dominican Business Association of the Community of Madrid held a “Cocktail-Networking for the Dominican Republic” with the purpose of strengthening the supply and demand of the Spanish-Dominican business sector in Spain, taking into account the professionalization of the sector and the strengthening of commercial relations to promote the opening of new lines of business.

The event, which took place at the Raheem Club in Madrid, was attended by diplomats, businessmen, executives and owners of Dominican and Spanish companies interested in strengthening their business and commercial ties with the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican ambassador to Spain, Juan Bolivar Diaz, said that the occasion is propitious to welcome these efforts and the strengthening of the corporate vocation of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in Madrid who are demonstrating that Dominican migration is becoming more vigorous, more diverse and more present in the life of Spain.

“We have a lot of progress to make in the commercial exchange of both countries, we have to keep moving forward. The foundation of Dominican foreign policy favors the promotion of Dominicans abroad, therefore, we are obliged to give support and encouragement to this Association that is born with great vigor,” he said.

Meanwhile, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid, Ángel Asensio, indicated that in the Community of Madrid Dominican businessmen have a support and a place where they can develop their business. “All of you are welcome”, he invited.

He also affirmed that the Community of Madrid is open and supports policies that favor an excellent ecosystem for companies, highlighting that this community is the one that contributes the most to the solidarity fund in Spain, “which means that less tax pressure means more revenue”, he said.

“This Forum represents the right framework to invest and develop. Madrid is the gateway to Europe. It is a diamond in the rough that we have not finished polishing and I am sure that we are going to do it with time and we are going to take advantage of what we are, a potential,” he said.

The president of the Spanish-Dominican Association of Entrepreneurs of the Community of Madrid, Frank Segura, highlighted that this is the first activity organized by the recently constituted Association, which has set as a goal to stimulate commercial relations between the Dominican Republic and Spain.

“Our entity has been founded with the integration of 48 affiliated SMEs and self-employed entrepreneurs, a sign of the enthusiasm, security and confidence that its founding members generate,” he said.

The event was attended by special guests: the former ambassador of Spain in the Dominican Republic, Alejandro Abellán García de Diego; the deputy director general of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Agustín Vaquero Gallego; the founder and owner of Club Raheem, José Tapias; the journalist and communicator Manuel Campo Vidal; the businessmen Antonio Garrigo and Miguel Ángel Cedrún (Spain Business School), Salvador Molina (Ecofin Forum), Hilario Alfaro (Madrid Business Forum), among other personalities.

The “Cocktail-networking for the Dominicanidad” that counted with the collaboration of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Spain, the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid, the Raheem Club, D Zero, Pro Business, took place in the framework of the commemoration of the 178th anniversary of the Independence of the Dominican Republic, space where information was offered on the annual strategic plan of the Hispanic-Dominican Association of the Dominican Republic.
