President Luis Abinader, together with the director of Caasd, Fellito Suberví, delivered the renovated Hainamosa domestic wastewater treatment plant.
This work will benefit more than 80,000 inhabitants of Hainamosa, Invivienda and Los Rosales, in Santo Domingo East, with a treatment capacity of 1,800 gallons per minute and an investment of RD 91.9 million.
Its reconstruction had been demanded for more than 30 years, as it put the health of the local inhabitants at risk.
Fellito Suberví emphasized that this infrastructure fulfills another promise of the president and implements measures to reduce environmental pollution and revitalize green areas.
“Today I feel more than satisfied to see this work done and what it means for the community, which was constantly complaining about the high degree of contamination emitted by the sewage.”
The plant has 4 upflow anaerobic reactors, a finishing lagoon, a drying bed, perimeter channel for rain drainage, cyclone mesh fences, access roads and curbs, waste pipe connections were expanded, the tanks were equipped, the exterior was illuminated, and gas burners were installed.
The community members also participated in the act, and represented by Rafael Pérez Rodríguez, thanked the president because this work changes their lives.
