President Luis Abinader started the reconstruction works of the Bonao aqueduct intake on the Yuna River, which will have an estimated investment of DR 94,909,608.43.
This is the recovery of the reinforced concrete dam, intake work and gabion wall, which allows the water to be diverted for the consumption of the populations of Bonao, Los Quemados, Blanco, La Villa and El Chorro.
The general manager of the Empresa de Generación Hidroeléctrica Dominicana (Egehid), Rafael Salazar, said that with this work, the President wants the people to be better off and to guarantee quality water.
The official announced works such as the Los Botaos road, Los Capaces, La Ceiba and Los Almendrales roads. He also said that the Bejucar church, the Sabana del Puerto funeral parlor and the Jayaco detachment, the Boca de Blanco play and Los Quemados are being planned.
The technical characteristics of the work include the channeling of the river, demolition and reconstruction of the undermined wall, construction of a gabion wall, anchoring of reinforced concrete slabs, supply and placement of intake pipes, maintenance of floodgates and construction of a concrete block fence.
The work, whose estimated execution time is less than 8 months, is in charge of Constructora Iwoka SRL, and is part of Egehid’s corporate social responsibility policy, in this case corresponding to the Rio Blanco Hydroelectric Power Plant.
Drinking water line in the upper part of Bonao
Subsequently, the head of state inaugurated a 16-inch drinking water adduction line, which will bring more efficient supply to the entire upper part of Bonao.
The benefited sectors are Alfredo Pérez Vargas, El Ocho, Barrio de los Padres, Hatico, Villa Verde, El Alto Manhattan, Barrio Marino López, Urbanización de Los Maestros, El Máximo Gómez, Cristo Rey, Villa Linda and Hugo Chávez.
This important project will benefit approximately 42,000 people.
The new infrastructure built by the Corporación de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Monseñor Nouel (Coraamon), has an impressive capacity of 1034.6 liters per second, thus strengthening the water supply in the region.
In addition, the strategic placement of 1218.76 linear meters of 12-inch pipe and 580.64 linear meters of 10-inch pipe has been carried out.
