The Minister of Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, assured that during his administration, the bases were laid to have the best levels of security in the country and said that the Police Reform has achieved significant results and that, as they prepare the body, the population will see the advances.
He cited among the achievements, agreements with the private sector, so that they provide support with external information through the surveillance cameras of businesses, which has implied the installation of 100,000 cameras, and an extensive lighting program, because the safest countries in the world are those with better lighting and video surveillance.
The official informed, among the recent benefits for police officers and firemen, discounts of 10% and up to 45%, with the purpose of improving their living conditions.
He said that members of the auxiliary police are prepared to provide services to the school police and guarantee tranquility in educational centers.
Regarding the post of consul in New York, which he will assume on the 16th, he detailed that on Monday he held a meeting with the consul in that city, Eligio Jáquez, to begin the transition in his new administration.
These statements were offered during an intervention at the inauguration of facilities at the 16 de Agosto Military Camp.
