Tourism Cabinet and Attorney General’s Office to sign agreements to guarantee greater security in different destinations

Minister David Collado and Tourism Cabinet meet with Deputy Attorney General Yeni Berenice

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, announced a reinforcement of measures to address the issue of prostitution and abuse of children and adolescents in order to have safer tourist destinations in the country.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Tourism Cabinet with the Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso, which took place at the Mitur headquarters.

In addition to Minister Collado and Attorney Berenice, the meeting was also attended by the director of the National Police, Major General Eduardo Alberto Then; the president of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), Vice Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa, the director of the Tourism Police (POLITUR), Minoru Matsunaga and representatives of the private sector, headed by Rafael Blanco Tejera, president of ASONAHORES.

At the meeting it was agreed to sign an agreement with the objective of creating homogeneous protocols for the handling of incidents occurring to tourists in hotels and the different destinations.

Also, the agreement will contemplate the contribution of the National Police with its online complaints platform.

“Today’s meeting could not be more fruitful to continue guaranteeing safer destinations,” said Minister Collado at the end of the meeting.

He informed that the agreement contemplates specific actions for the prevention and control of prostitution and abuse of Children and Adolescents.

The agreement will also include a day of talks and workshops for collaborators of the entire value chain of the sector in order to strengthen the protection of minors in tourist destinations.
