AHSD and CTSD promote tourism offerings in the United States

The Santo Domingo Hotel Association (AHSD) and the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster (CTSD), in collaboration with MITUR, through the Dominican Republic Tourism Promotion Office in Miami, carried out a commercial and promotional caravan in the United States.

For a week, the Dominican delegation, made up of hoteliers, tour operators and DMCs, presented the destination’s tourism offer in 4 cities: Atlanta -Georgia, Charlotte and Greensboro in North Carolina and Miami in Florida.

The initiative is part of the marketing plan promoted by the AHSD – CTSD to promote the tourism offer of the capital, as well as to promote the multi-destination opportunities that can be successfully carried out from Santo Domingo. “Santo Domingo is the ideal destination to promote combinations, circuits and excursions, thanks to the strategic location of the city and the excellent land connection that the capital has with the rest of the country’s tourist destinations, which in an average of 2 hours away, can connect with other destinations and strengthen the tourism offer, generating a more complete and valuable experience for the international tourist”, explained Fabeth Martinez, executive director of the Association of Hotels and the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster.

The promotional mission was led by Yudit Garcia, president of the Santo Domingo Hotel Association. It counted with the participation of: Sheraton Santo Domingo Hotel, Hodelpa Hotels, Catalonia Santo Domingo, Radisson Santo Domingo, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Billini Hotel, Colonial Tours, Manureva Tours and Renny Travels. Presentations and meetings were held in each city with the participation of more than 200 travel agents. This was an opportunity to establish commercial agreements and generate demand by publicizing the offer and the destination.

The president of the hoteliers of the capital, Yudit Garcia, highlighted the magnificent work being done by the Ministry of Tourism under the leadership of Minister David Collado. More than talking about recovery, we should talk about growth in all areas. We have grown in arrivals, air connections, investments, new projects and we are working to improve the infrastructure in the country’s tourist destinations. A clear commitment to tourism competitiveness has made us regional and world leaders in several aspects.Yudit Garcia

We have far surpassed the pre-pandemic figures and are consolidating the growth trend. We have managed to maintain tourism growth in these areas, despite natural phenomena and the geopolitical situation in Europe, which is an important market. This shows that the formula of the Tourism Cabinet, which articulates a collegiate management of the public-private sector, works optimally. We have a minister who is constantly encouraging, promoting, managing and supporting projects and actions to continue generating demand for the DR. From the private sector, we join this strategy with actions like this one, and others that we are carrying out according to our work plan, said Yudit Garcia.

The United States is a fundamental market, which contributes more than 40% of the capital’s tourists and will continue to grow. Proof of this is the important and growing air connection that the city has with the United States, with more than 225 weekly flights from the Americas to different cities in the United States, being able, in addition, to use other international airports such as Santiago, La Roma, Punta Cana, Samana, and Puerto Plata. The DR has excellent connectivity, said Yudit Garcia, president of the hoteliers of the Capital.
