The executive director of the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), Jean Luis Rodríguez and the Ombudsman, Pablo Ulloa, went to the community of Los Cacaos de Santa Bárbara de Samaná to learn about the situation of the fishermen of the area.

Among the requests of the fishermen is the construction of a fishing dock, for which it was ordered that this week the engineering team make a survey in the area and build the facility for the hundreds of fishermen who work in this part of the coast of Samaná.

Pablo Ulloa, ratified his commitment and mission to continue protecting the rights of the Dominicans, being coherent with the legal and constitutional guidelines that create the institution.

In the meeting, Portuaria also received a request for the creation of a cooperative and from now on they are approaching the Instituto de Ahorro y Crédito Cooperativo (IDECOOP), to initiate the steps for the incorporation of a cooperative that will allow them to comment on the economic bases that will give stability and confidence to the fishing community.

Both officials pledged to continue joining efforts together to promote the development and stability of Dominicans.
