Commemorative activities to mark this historical event
Today Tuesday the country marks the 47th anniversary of the Revolution of April, when on the 24th of that month in 1965, a revolt sought to return ousted president Juan Bosch back in office, and the return of democracy.
Various institutions will host commemorative activities to mark the historical event for the Dominican Republic starting 9 am, with a vigil in the Colonial Zone’s Puerta del Conde, the site where the uprising began.
At the same hour a mass will be officiated in honor of the fallen April fighters, in the Nuestra Señora del Carmen church, in the Colonial Zone.
