The General Command of the Army of the Dominican Republic (ERD) together with the Association of Army Officers’ Wives (ADEOERD) inaugurated the Comprehensive Care Center for the Armed Forces of the ERD (CAIFFAA-ERD), in the facilities of the 16 de Agosto Military Camp, in the municipality of Pedro Brand.
The new center, whose construction was sponsored by Grupo Popular, will provide specialized care for the children of military personnel and their direct relatives with special conditions.
The ceremony was headed by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, ERD, and Mrs. Wendy Santos de Díaz, president of ADEOFA, accompanied by the General Commander of the Army, Major General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, and Mrs. Varinnia Durán de Fernández, president of ADEOERD.
From this place they will provide care to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), offering personalized programs that respond to the needs of each patient. Psychopedagogical and behavioral therapies will be provided, as well as a variety of evaluations to determine and treat in time any condition they may have.
Early care and family support services will also be offered, all provided by highly trained specialists in their respective areas.
Mrs. Durán de Fernández thanked the president of ADEOFA for taking the initiative to develop the first CAIFFAA through an agreement with the Center for Integral Attention for Disability (CAID), creating a space for the families of our soldiers.
“Our goal with this center is to continue to provide these children with a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment, where each can develop at their own pace and reach their full potential. We are committed to offering personalized programs that respond to their individual needs and foster their abilities,” said the president of ADEOERD.
The activity was attended by Mr. Manuel A. Grullón, president of the Board of Directors of Grupo Popular; Mr. Manuel E. Jiménez, executive president of Grupo Popular, as well as members of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and their distinguished wives; the president of the Board of Directors and the national director of the Center for Integral Attention for the Disabled, and special guests.
