Average hotel occupancy soars 4.8% in DR in first quarter

Hotel occupancy in the first quarter of the year was 84.3%, 4.8% more than for the same period of last year.

The zones with the highest average growth were Boca Chica-Juan Dolio, with 20.9%, and La Romana-Bayahibe, with 8.6%.

Ocupación HoteleraThe arrival of passengers by air amounted to 2,334,562.3, of which 86.9% were non-resident foreigners and 12.1% non-resident Dominicans.

In the first quarter of this year there was a decrease of 8.8% of cruise ship arrivals. Only 258 cruise ships touched the coasts, according to the Statistical Bulletin of the Macroeconomic and Sectorial Statistics Division of the National Statistics Office.

This drop in cruise ship arrivals did not translate into a decrease in the number of cruise passengers. In the first quarter of 2023, 801,878 passengers arrived in the country, compared to 866,829 in 2024.
