Banreservas becomes an affiliate member of UN-Tourism

The candidacy was approved at the 121st Session of the organization, held in Barcelona, Spain.

Banco de Reservas became an affiliated member of the World Tourism Organization (UN-Tourism), which is the United Nations agency in charge of promoting world tourism and of which some 500 companies and public and private organizations from different countries are members.

According to a press release, the formal admission of the Dominican banking institution took place within the framework of the 121st Session of the Executive Council of UN Tourism, held in Barcelona, Spain, where the bank was represented by its general director of Tourism Business, Deyanira Pappaterra.

The acceptance of the denomination was suggested by the Dominican Republic’s ambassador to UN-Tourism, Anabel Bueno Santana-Dolenc, in coordination with the Vice-Ministry for Cooperation Affairs of the Ministry of Tourism.

The participation of Banreservas as a member of the aforementioned UN organization poses multiple benefits for sizing its tourism business strategy in various international scenarios, aimed at promoting investment in this sector in the Dominican Republic.

Among these options are networking management, as well as the ease of interaction through communication channels with member states and private sector representatives participating in this type of international event.

Manage responsible tourism

In addition to promoting global tourism, UN-Tourism’s mission is to manage responsible, sustainable and accessible tourism for all. To achieve this, the organization works closely with its members, whether they are governments or private sector entities.

Comprising more than 500 private companies, associations, educational institutions and destination management organizations, UN-Tourism’s Affiliate Members Department provides a unique space for its constituents to exchange knowledge, support new actions and create synergies that promote the development of the sector, as well as contribute to the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals for Tourism (SDGs).
