CEA donates land for construction of 12,000 military housing units

The State Sugar Council (CEA) formalized the delivery of some 500,000 m2 in the municipality of Boca Chica, to the Social Security Institute of the Armed Forces (ISSFFAA), to build some 12,000 houses for the benefit of military personnel and their families.

Also, the executive management of the CEA donated to the Ministry of Defense (MIDE) in usufruct for 20 years, a portion of land with the amount of 40,369 m2, to develop, together with other institutions, the State Storage Park of Boca Chica.

The donation is contemplated in an agreement signed in the presence of the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos Echavarría, by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, ERD; the director of ISSFFAA, Major General Celin Rubio Terrero, ERD, and Rafael Burgos Gómez, General Director of National Assets and Honorary Director of the State Sugar Council (CEA).

During the signing, Minister Santos Echavarría assured “that the government has not only worked to improve the salary conditions of the Armed Forces and to ensure the social protection and security of their families, but has also given priority to housing as a fundamental pillar”.

At the ceremony, the Minister of Defense expressed his satisfaction “because the delivery of these lands represents a significant step in the construction of a safer and more dignified environment for those who serve the country”.

By receiving these lands, said Diaz Morfa, “they will be put to beneficial use to improve the living conditions of those on whose shoulders rests the security, defense and integrity of the Nation”.

For his part, the executive director of the CEA, Rafael Burgos Gómez, explained that “these lands are located in a privileged area of Boca Chica, which will be accessed by Circunvalación Avenue, which surrounds the new Navy base and other key infrastructures related to industrial, technological, port, tourism and airport development”.

Present at the ceremony were, Major General Ramon Antonio Guzman Peralta, director of the National Police; General Francisco Osorio de la Cruz, PN. of the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett) and doctors Mario Lama, director of the National Health Service and Algeris Jerez, among other personalities.
