This Saturday was held the second edition of the Dominican Women Journalists Forum, an event in which the women who gathered shared their experiences, challenges and challenges of the informative work.

The keynote lecture was given by educator Mary Cantisano Rojas, who will address how autobiography is a necessary genre for women journalists to contribute with more representative stories about the situation of Dominican women. Cantisano Rojas will be introduced by journalist Altagracia Salazar; later, comments will be moderated by reporter Aris Beltré in a dialogue joined by Mescyt Vice Minister Paula Disla and journalist María Scharbay Martínez.
Tribute to Pía Rodríguez
The mayor of the First City of America, Carolina Mejía, will lead the ceremony in memory of journalist Pía Rodríguez, together with the director of El Nuevo Diario and the dircom Vanessa González. Daughters and children of the pioneer of political journalism in the country will receive the posthumous tribute, while the annual award that seeks to promote women’s journalism will be announced.
Recently, Mayor Mejía, who was last year’s keynote speaker, received the Organizing Committee and described the unity of women journalists around the forum as courageous and exemplary.
During the Second Forum of Dominican Women Journalists, two simultaneous workshops will be held: “New perspectives for an inclusive coverage”, during which Patria Reyes, Lily Luciano and Lilian Tejeda will explore possible coverage from entrepreneurship to care policies, moderated by Marien Aristy Capitán.
Also, in “Keys to the sustainability of start-ups before the mainstream press,” journalists Danielis Fermín, Cristal Acevedo and Altagracia Salazar, moderated by Acroarte president Wanda Sánchez, will share their experiences in the creation of new media.
