Cibao Airport launches first phase of terminal expansion

The Cibao International Airport (AIC) announced the start of work on the first phase of the expansion project of this air terminal, which will last two and a half years.

This phase of more than 60,000 square meters contemplates the construction of a new passenger terminal, roadways and external transit accesses, as well as a parking lot, according to Teófilo Gómez, general manager of the airport.

Gómez explained that the airport will continue to operate normally during the execution of these works, for which reason they have established logistics to affect operations and users as little as possible.

He also urged passengers to arrive at the terminal at least 3 hours in advance due to the changes that may occur with the remodeling of the airport, which also coincide with the expansion of the Duarte highway.

“Ingeniería Estrella is the contractor that will carry out this first phase of the expansion project under the supervision of Luis Vidal + Arquitectos, the Spanish firm in charge of the airport design,” he said.AIC

It is recalled that at the end of the year 2021, the first step was taken to start the expansion works of the main air terminal of the Northern region, in a ceremony led by President Luis Abinader, airport executives, officials, managers and managers of airlines and the different companies that converge in the AIC.

The Cibao Airport recently celebrated 21 years since the beginning of its operations, more than 2 decades of continuous growth thanks to the trust placed in it by travelers, its investors and the work of the human capital responsible for the operation of the airport 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
