With the presence of the main authorities of the province, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, inaugurated this Saturday the reconstruction of the Pepillo Salcedo Municipal Park (Manzanillo), as part of the set of infrastructure works that seek to boost tourism in the province.
The project was in charge of the Executing Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR) at a cost of RD$39,442,363.72.
Collado expressed that “with the delivery of this work, he reaffirms his interest in bringing tourism and recreation to every corner of the country, generating jobs and improving the quality of life of its inhabitants”.
He said that turning into reality an old claim of its residents, is part of the commitment of Mitur and the Government together with President Luis Abinader to develop the tourism of Montecristi of enormous tourist potential.
Its reconstruction was carried out in an intervention area of 5,500 square meters, within which 870 square meters of sidewalk and 285 linear meters of curbs were built.
The works included the construction of a new 140 square meter traffic circle with a modern and avant-garde design, finished in concrete and wood.
In an area of 2,575 square meters of plaza, the new park has landscaping, lighting and urban equipment.
The storm drainage solution was integrated with complementary facilities to collect runoff water from rainfall in the area.
The landscaping included plant species such as mahogany, oak, almácigo, guayacán and Bermuda grass.
Minister Collado was accompanied by the senator for Montecristi, Ramón Antonio Pimentel; the governor Nelsy Cruz; the mayors of the head municipality, Rafael Jesús Pérez; of Manzanillo, Ignacio Rosa; Samuel Toribio, of Guayubín; Lucho Reyes, for Palo Verde and Henry Castro, mayor of Villa Vásquez.
Mitur was represented by the Vice Ministers of Administration and Destination Management, Yaneris Then and Patricia Mejía, respectively; the director of CEIZTUR, Sixto Brea and General Hinoru Matsunaga, director of the Tourist Police -Politur- as well as provincial directors of the tourism institution.
