The Military and Police Commission (Comipol) of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) was certified with the ISO 9001: 2015 standard for quality management in processes of road protection and assistance, pre-hospital medicine and vehicle rescue.
The recognition was delivered by Néstor Julio Matos Ureña, director of the Dominican Institute for Quality (Indocal), an authority that represents the country at international level in aspects of standardization, as well as legal, industrial and scientific metrology, to guarantee a culture of quality in customer satisfaction and all citizens.
The certificate with the declaration was received in a special ceremony headed by Engineer Deligne Ascensión, Minister of Public Works, and Dr. Rafael Vásquez Espínola, Major General of the Army of the Dominican Republic and Director of Comipol. The ceremony was held at the MOPC Employees Club.
The achievement of ISO 9001:2015 encompassed a process that spanned four years and concluded with a rigorous audit along with procedures outlined in more than 4,000 pages, as well as the verification of the quality standards of the services offered by Comipol on the country’s main highways.
This standard has worldwide recognition and attests that the institutions where it is achieved demonstrate their commitments, meet the expectations of their users and have defined how to establish, implement, maintain and constantly improve a quality management system.
Dr. Vásquez Espínola, in his keynote speech at the ceremony, highlighted “the tenacious dedication of the members of Comipol to make this agency a benchmark institution for quality and technification”.
He thanked the support given to his administration by Minister Ascención, who has always supported the Comipol to improve its performance.
“I am convinced that this would not have been possible without that support from the Minister, but also without the fortitude of the men and women who every day give 100% of their efforts to improve the services we offer. There are no words that can express my gratitude and pride”, said Vásquez Espínola.
He emphasized that his administration has built a culture of constant improvement, through a process of professionalization and the provision of equipment, clothing, vehicles, more soldiers and salary increases.
He added that, in his administration, which began in August 2020, they have offered more than 1.2 million assistances and that the response time to the assistances has been reduced, after the implementation of the call center application with the line 829-688-1000, and the APPmovil Asistencia Vial.
On his side, Deligne Ascención said he was more than pleased with the work of Comipol in these four years, because it has not only improved the service, but has expanded it to now cover 3,200 kilometers of highways nationwide.
“General Vásquez Espínola, I congratulate you for this great work; without a doubt I am proud of each one of the people who make up Comipol”, he said.
The ISO 9001:2015 award ceremony was also attended by MOPC deputy ministers Ángel Tejada and Roberto Herrera, as well as the director of Human Resources, Ana Cristina Ángela Robles, and Onéximo Antonio González, advisor to the aforementioned ministry.
