Dominican Republic joins the celebration of Free Comic Book Day

This Saturday, May 1, for the first time in the Dominican Republic, Free Comic Book Day will be celebrated, a day that seeks to bring the general public closer to this art form through the delivery of free copies.

That is why several countries such as the United States, Peru, Spain…and now the Dominican Republic have implemented the initiative.

In the country, the Alpha Eve comics studio team, the Sketchdom organization and Galería 360 have come together with the commitment to host this event.

On Saturday, May 1, starting at 4:00 p.m. inside the Galería 360 shopping mall, the illustrators of Alpha Eve studio will deliver their most famous comic book repertoire: “Baká, el Mito Asesino” and “Bazuka”, by author Darwin Núñez; “La Armadura de mi Hermano”, by author Manuel Shoo; “Más Freak de lo Normal”, by Francisco Balbuena (aka Luffy); “La Guagua Voladora”, by Nicole Hernández, and “Escondite”, by Nathalia Rivera, better known as Nattibie.

The public will be able to enjoy a talk on all the stages involved in making a comic, from conceptualization to sale, by the exponents Darwin Núñez (CEO of Alpha Eve studio), Máximo Montero (illustrator and colorist), Diego Colón (Illustrator) and Manuel Shoo (Illustrator and public relations of the studio).

“So, if you like sequential art or want to learn more about Dominican comics, its exponents, see the work they are doing and of course, why not, have your comic autographed… Save the date and have a good time reading and art at Galería 360,” the organizers urged in a press release.
