Dominican Republic to host Iberoamerican Social Security Organization congress

The Dominican Republic will host the Congress of the Ibero-American Social Security Organization (OISS), where labor reform and reactivation in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, social security, migration and occupational prospects will be discussed.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel De Camps García, who as part of the work agenda, on his trip to Spain held a meeting with the secretary general of the ISSO, Gina Magnolia Riaño, with whom in addition to signing the agreement that grants the venue of this important international event to the country, they analyzed the real state of the rights of migrant workers.

“The protocol that the Dominican Republic has been successfully implementing to confront the pandemic has allowed us a remarkable recovery in employment and the economy, thanks to the vision of the government and our president Luis Abinader,” said De Camps.

During his meeting with the secretary general of the OISS, the official presented extensively the country’s panorama with respect to teleworking and presence with preventive measures in private companies and public institutions.

He also commented on the successful work of the Dominican government in the national vaccination plan, the measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 from the Health Cabinet, the economic and employment reactivation above the levels of 2019, before the pandemic.

The president of the National Social Security Council also held a working meeting with the ONCE Foundation for Cooperation and Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities, where they discussed the training process for the subsequent labor insertion of people with disabilities.

They also discussed fundamental factors, such as job intermediation, training for employability, the process of identifying vacancies, inclusion and non-discrimination.

The meeting, held at the ONCE Foundation headquarters in Madrid, was attended by Alberto Durán López, Senior VP of Institutional Coordination and External Relations; José Luis Martínez Donoso, General Director; Javier Guëmes, Director of International Relations of the Social Group; Francisco Centeno, Regional Director of the Portalento LATAM Project; Sabina Lobato, Director of Training and Employment of the ONCE Foundation.
