Dominican Republic tourism registers 5 percent growth

It consolidates the country’s Caribbean leadership

The head of Dominican Republic’s hotels and tourism businesses grouped in ASONAHORES Wednesday announced that in the first two months this year the flow of tourists grew more than 5% compared with the same year ago period, consolidating the country as the Caribbean’s leader in the industry.

Julio Llibre said government investments in infrastructure have a lot to do with the sector’s growth, especially roads, which he affirms benefitted the tourism industry considerably.

The official said the advance in education and health tourism, attracted by what he called outstanding services of care provided in hospitals and clinics nationwide.
