Dominican Republic wins 2 awards at Uzakrota Travel Awards

The Dominican Republic won second and third place at the Uzakrota Travel Awards Turkey in the World’s Leading Country Tourism Destination and World’s Leading Tourism Board categories, respectively, reaffirming the country’s tourism leadership in the world.

Uzakrota Travel Awards is a global initiative aimed at selecting and awarding excellence in the world of tourism, in 53 categories, where the Dominican Republic participated for the second time.

The awards ceremony will be held on December 3 during the Uzakrota Global Summit at Madame Tussauds Museum Istanbul. A total of 194,743 votes were cast.

In the World’s Leading Country Tourism Destination category, first place went to Qatar with 1,030 votes, second to the Dominican Republic with 983 votes, and third to Turkey with 778 votes.

Meanwhile, the Central Asia Tourism Promotion Office (OPT) of the country participated for the second time, where it received third place as World’s Leading Country Tourism Board, after Tourism Malaysia, first prize; and Saudi Tourism Authority, second prize.

In 2020, the Dominican Republic won third place in the World’s Leading Country Tourism Destination category, where first and second place went to the Philippines and Turkey, respectively.

Uzakrota is one of the top 10 tourism organizations worldwide. Uzakrota Global Summit enters the Top 10 Travel Events in the World 2020 according to HepStar, a travel industry ranking influencer.
