DR returns to FITUR as a Partner Country to reaffirm the destination as the Caribbean’s leading long-distance destination

The Dominican Republic is participating in the 42nd edition of the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) 2022 as a Partner Country, where it will reaffirm its leadership as a leader in long-distance tourism in the Caribbean, which will be held from January 19 to 23 at the Ifema fairgrounds in Madrid, Spain.

The Quintana Roo delegation will be headed by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and more than 60 Dominican companies from the different tourism value chains will be participating, and the King and Queen of Spain are expected to attend the official inauguration of the stand.

During the conclave, President Abinader and Minister Collado will exhaust an extensive work agenda, where they will finalize various agreements with airlines, tour operators, travel agents, investors, among others.

The Dominican companies that will attend the fair will conduct their business rounds at Stand 3C01 located in Pavilion 3 of the Juan Carlos Primero fairgrounds, where one of the most important tourism events in the world will take place.

Given the current health situation in the world, IFEMA-MADRID, will have a rigorous health safety protocol, such as: Presentation of Covid Digital Certificate of the EU (citizens of participating countries) or QR Spain Travel Health (third countries) or in the absence of the above, a negative Covid test.

Also, mandatory use of FFP2 masks indoors, temperature control, hydroalcoholic gel dispensers throughout the venue, circuit with wide aisles that allow physical distancing, capacity control with people counting system and intelligent digital system of space and movement analysis, among other measures that will ensure the health of participants.

The participation of the Dominican Republic in this fair is more important than ever, as it seeks to continue strengthening the sector that contributed the most to the national economy in the past year 2021, which ended with record figures in December with the arrival of 728,335 non-resident visitors, the best in the history of the country, as well as the acquisition of 5,626 million dollars in foreign exchange and the recovery of 600,000 formal jobs.

Among the companies that will be participating in FITUR 2022 are the hotel chains Lifestyle Holidays, Catalonia Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn, Casa de Campo, Ocean Club, Impressive, Hotel Casa Hemingway, Serenade Punta Cana, VH Hotels & Resorts, Codelpa, Gran Ventana, Downtown, among others.

The event will also be attended by national banks such as Banco Popular, Banreservas and BHD Leon, as well as Aerodom, Punta Cana International Airport, Cap Cana, Pro Dominicana, Santo Domingo Hotel Association, Despegar, Bestday, Alamo Enterprise Nacional, DGAPP, Coco Bongo, Nexus, Clúster Turístico del Destino Puerto Plata, among others.
