The Dominican Republic closes 2021 with important tourism awards granted to hotels, restaurants, airports, hotel companies and the country in spite of the year of the covid19 pandemic that still persists.
Among the awards received were prestigious awards worldwide, confirming the recovery of this important sector for the country.
The Casa de Campo hotel received important recognitions throughout this year, among them the most recent one that catalogs it as the “World’s Leading Luxury Sports & Villa Resort 2021” at the World’s Leading Luxury Sports & Villa Resort 2021 World Travel Awards 2021.
In addition, it received in the Hotel.com awards two categories, “Loved by Guest VIP Access” and Loved by Guest “Most Wanted”. It was recognized as the best location in the Traveller Review Awards 2021, given by the travel portal Booking.com.
It also won three medals, two gold and one bronze in the North Star Meetings Group’s “Stella 2021 Awards”, Gold Medal, “Best Golf Resort”; Gold Medal, “Best Support Staff”; and “Bronze Medal, Best Hotel/Resort Event Space for International and U.S. Territories”.
It also won the award for Leading Resort in the Dominican Republic 2021 “World Travel Awards 2021”, in the Caribbean and North America 2021 category.
Nine other categories were awarded: – JW Marriott Santo Domingo as Leading Hotel in the Caribbean 2021 – Amanera as Leading Beach Resort in the Caribbean 2021 – Hotel Casa Hemingway as Leading Boutique Hotel in the Dominican Republic 2021 – El Embajador, a Royal Hideaway Hotel as Leading Hotel in the Dominican Republic 2021 – Suite Presidencial Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana Resort & Spa as Leading Hotel Suite in the Dominican Republic 2021.

Other awards received were: The InterContinental Real Santo Domingo and Sanctuary Cap Cana were also chosen among the 25 best hotels in the Caribbean in the Travellers Choice Awards, given by TripAdvisor. The Four Points by Sheraton Puntacana Village and The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club are among the top 10 hotels recognized by Tripadvisor’s Travelers “Choice Awards 2021.
The Majestic” Colonial Punta Cana hotel was selected among “The 25 Most Kept Hotels in the World” in the Travellers” Choice Awards 2021. It is the only Dominican hotel to appear in the “WORLD” category of these awards; many others are featured in the different “CARIBBEAN” categories.
The 25 most popular all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean included: Majestic Elegance Punta Cana; Excellence Punta Cana; Iberostar Grand Bávaro and Grand Palladium Palace Resort, Spa & Casino. The 25 most romantic hotels in the Caribbean included: Sanctuary Cap Cana; Zoetry Agua Punta Cana; Excellence Punta Cana and Bahia Principe Luxury Cayo Levantado.
In the category of the 25 best hostels and guesthouses in the Caribbean, the awards included: Hostal Casa Jum, in Santiago and Chalet Tropical Village, in Las Galeras, Samaná. Three awards were also obtained in the TripSavvy Editors “Choice Awards 2021”. The categories were “Best for Beach Bums” for the Amarena Hotel; “Best for Plant Moms” for the Iberostar Grand Bávaro; and “Best for Fine Dining” for the Tortuga Bay Hotel.
Airports
Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) received for the fifth consecutive year the awards for “Best in the Region” and “Best Hygiene Measures by Region”, during the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards ceremony of the Airports Council International.
AERODOM and Punta Cana International Airport are among the 11 airports in the region that received the “Green Airport Recognition” for their environmental and social practices, awarded by Airports Council International Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC).
In addition, AERODOM was recognized as one of the mentor airports that are actively supporting colleagues in the airport industry in Latin America and the Caribbean to work on their action plans for achieving the sector’s goal of reaching Net Zero by 2050.
Restaurants
The Naca’n restaurant, located in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, was recognized as the winner of the Travelers “Choice 2021” award granted by the TripAdvisor platform, in which it was also ranked as the number one restaurant in the Dominican Republic. It stood out for consistently delighting diners.
Awards for the DR
The Dominican Republic won 2nd and 3rd place in Uzakrota Travel Awards Turkey in the World “Leading Country Tourism Destination and World” Leading Tourism Board categories, respectively.
