What is pending for the Ministry of Interior and Police?

That work began with the swearing in of a special multidisciplinary commission, which was charged with delivering proposals for changes to the Executive Branch.
At that time it was stated that the commission’s mission was to constitute itself as a council with the objective of elaborating and recommending public policies focused on a legal, institutional, operational and functional reform of the National Police.
Abinader’s first step in that direction was the announcement made on 30 March 2021, following the death of an evangelical married couple at the hands of National Police officers, who shot them without a word on the Duarte Highway, allegedly mistaking them for criminals being chased from Bonao, in the north of the country.
So far the Abinader administration has had three directors of the National Police: Edward Sanchez; Eduardo Alberto Then and the current one, Antonio Guzman Peralta.
