The National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) has submitted an innovative project to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt): the creation of the INAP University. The main objective of this initiative is to develop an innovative and interdisciplinary academic offer in virtual modality, essentially oriented to the public servants of the Dominican State.
The launching of the INAP University is supported by a solid educational platform and state-of-the-art technological resources, adapted to the needs of training, research and specialization of human resources required by the country in the field of public administration.
This restructuring of INAP seeks to significantly raise the level of professionalization of public employees and, consequently, improve the quality of services offered to citizens.
In this first stage, five postgraduate programs specifically aimed at public employees in key positions will be launched. These programs, designed with a multisectoral vision, seek to strengthen competencies and build capacities in critical areas of public administration. INAP has identified these areas as essential to its commitment to create a high quality service experience from state institutions.
The project envisions public servants acquiring leadership, project management and strategic decision making skills. These competencies will not only raise their managerial profile, but will also expand their capacity to respond to the diverse scenarios posed by their interaction with society.
Cristian Sánchez Reyes, director of INAP, emphasized the importance of providing public servants with the necessary tools to perform their duties professionally and efficiently. “This initiative responds to the demands of society and is aligned with the guidelines of the government of President Luis Abinader Corona, who has shown a firm commitment to the continuous improvement of public administration,” stressed Sánchez.
To carry out this project, INAP has formed a commission of experts, subject to the authorization of its academic council. This commission will be responsible for leading the transformation of INAP into an institution of higher education, focused on the design and development of postgraduate programs that meet the specific needs of the Dominican public administration.
This initiative is expected not only to to raise the level of professionalization of public servants, but also to contribute to the strengthening of the role of state institutions. The creation of the INAP University represents a significant step in the search for excellence in the training of Dominican public servants.
This effort constitutes a firm step by the country towards the conformation of Schools of Government with an innovative vision, while expanding the framework of Ibero-American discussion on the demands of citizens towards public institutions in the face of the new social, political and economic context that the world is experiencing.
