The Minister of Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, received the visit of Miss Universe 2023, Sheyniss Palacios, and Miss Dominican Republic 2024, Celinee Santos Frías, with whom he talked about the programs to confront crime and violence, such as “De Vuelta al Barrio” and “Líderes Mediadores de Conflictos”, which are part of the Integral Strategy for Citizen Security “Mi País Seguro”.
The Nicaraguan beauty was accompanied by the director of Miss Universe Dominican Republic, Magali Febles, and the vice-president of International Relations, Mario Búcaro.
Palacios expressed her identification with “De Vuelta al Barrio”, and said she firmly believes that education is the basis for success. He agreed with the official to extend the message at the international level, consisting of bringing to the sectors those who have achieved success and are examples of overcoming through effort.
“Just like many Dominicans, I also come from the barrio, from a very vulnerable area of my country, but I had a dreamer’s mind, I wanted to succeed, I wanted to be different and now I receive the blessing of being an international spokesperson in the company of Miss Universe. I can also talk about my story, to be an inspiration and an example so that people can follow their goals, that because they are from the neighborhood they do not feel any limitation”, she said.
She also indicated that among the bases that highlight the contest is to highlight the value and empowerment of women, and the opportunity to participate and lead in the social sectors, to generate an impact and a great alliance to create a better conception of society.
On her part, Búcaro thanked the Dominican people for welcoming her and highlighted the work of this organization for the benefit of societies, which serves to show the world the positive impact of beauty queens as spokespersons for peace.
Likewise, the queen, Celinee Santos, who will represent the country in September in the 73rd edition of the international contest in Mexico, thanked the minister for the opportunity to be a participant in the “De Vuelta al Barrio” program, in which she will be able to share her experiences with community members and serve as a support for them to remain firm in pursuing their dreams.
