MITUR launches Qualitur, a distinction for quality, efficiency and competitiveness in the country’s tourism industry.

The Minister of Tourism (MITUR), David Collado, led the launching of Qualitur, the first tourism quality label in the country, aimed at hoteliers, tour operators, bars and restaurants.
Through this distinction, it is guaranteed to recognize the continuous improvement and promotion of quality in the services and products offered by this segment of tourism, providing credibility and distinction with a higher degree of customer satisfaction.
Minister Collado stressed the importance of the distinction to achieve greater quality and efficiency in the services received by domestic and foreign tourists.
“With Qualitur we ratify our commitment to constant improvement and efficiency in the national tourism industry,” said the minister.
In his opening remarks, Roberto Henríquez, Deputy Minister of Quality of Tourism Services of Mitur, highlighted the importance and the excellent benefits that having the Qualitur certification will bring to companies and organizations.
He expressed that this Distinctive will guarantee the continuous improvement and quality for excellence in the country’s tourism industry, as well as a higher degree of satisfaction to the traveler, guest, client or user who requires these services.
He also emphasized that in satisfaction surveys 91 percent of travelers would visit the Dominican Republic again, “our objective is to become a 5-star destination in terms of satisfaction, which is why we are here today to present the tool that will help us achieve this goal together”.
The official thanked the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for its contribution to the Project through its Integral Tourism and Urban Development Program for the Colonial City of Santo Domingo (PIDTUCCSD).
The second phase of the Qualitur Project will be aimed at tour guides, gift stores, tourist transportation and museums.
The implementation of the new distinction, which has the Cristal Certification, will boost the competitiveness and development of the tourism sector and will provide confidence in the professionalism of the personnel and greater security in the choice of the establishment or services.
During the presentation ceremony of this tourism quality label, the travel agencies Tourenlace del Caribe and Colonilal Tour and Travel were recognized, and from the hotel sector, the Crowne Plaza and Intercontinental de Santo Domingo were the first to obtain the Qualitur validation.
