Motorized water sports restricted during Holy Week

To enhance security during the vacation

The Ministry of Tourism has issued Resolution No. 96/2012 announcing its annual ban on the use of jet ski/wave runners, motorized boats, horses, motorcycles and motorized vehicles on beaches nationwide from Thursday 5 April to Sunday, 8 April, the busiest days of the Easter Week holiday in the Dominican Republic.

The Ministry does allow the use of maritime transport in Laguna Gri Gri in Rio San Juan in the province of Maria Trinidad Sanchez and the islands of Saona, Catalina and Cayo Levantado.

The Dominican Tourism Police (Politur) is responsible for implementing the ban, which is imposed to enhance security during the vacation, when thousands of Dominicans flock to the beaches.
