New Intrant director meets with transportation companies

The new executive director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), Milton Morrison, has held separate meetings with representatives of the public passenger and tourist transportation sector.

Morrison said that the purpose is to seek joint solutions to promote a more modern and efficient transportation system, while announcing the creation of working groups to address common issues within the framework of transparency and ethics, for the benefit of mobility and road safety, to meet the requirements of Law 63-17, on Mobility, Land Transportation, Transit and Road Safety.

Among the main actors of the sector with whom the official has held meetings are Antonio Marte, from the National Confederation of Transport Organizations (Conatra); from the National Federation of Transport the New Option (Fenatrano), Juan Hubieres and Antonio Brito, as well as Santiago Zamora, from the Dominican Confederation of Tourist Taxi Drivers.

In addition, William Pérez Figuereo, of the Central Nacional de Transportistas Unificados (CNTU), and Alfredo Pulinario (Tito), of the Grupo de Empresas de Transporte (Mochotran), among others.

“These separate meetings seek to promote joint solutions, within the framework of transparency and ethics in the short and medium term for the benefit of the transport sector, and in compliance with the provisions of our laws,” explained Morrison.

The representatives of the different transportation companies agreed that the appointment of Milton Morrison as head of Intrant opens a new stage of consensus and the establishment of clear policies and respect for Law 63-17.

During the meetings, the issues of formalization and training of drivers and transport operators are addressed, in addition to compliance with the regulations established by Law 63-17, which guarantees safe and efficient transportation for all citizens.

The collaboration between Intrant and representatives of the transport sector also seeks to promote road safety education and awareness of the importance of respect for traffic regulations, both by drivers and pedestrians.

Milton Morrison was invited to the headquarters of the Dominican Confederation of Tourist Taxi Drivers (Codotatur) and met with more than 30 representatives of the country’s tourist transport belonging to this guild.

They expressed support for his management in Intrant and in the coordination of the tables at the national level, for the enforcement of traffic and transport laws.
