Participants at the Les Entreprises du Voyage congress delighted with DR

Participants in the Les Entreprises du Voyage congress, where they held their sections and business rounds, expressed their satisfaction with the charms and diversity of the Dominican Republic’s tourism offer.

The conclave, which brought together more than 400 representatives of the French tourism industry, including tour operators, travel agents, airlines, journalists, insurance agencies, MICE agencies, among others, was held in Bávaro, in the east of the Caribbean country.

Jean-Pierre MAS, president of Entreprises du Voyage, thanked Minister David Collado for his willingness and facilities for the congress to be held in the Dominican Republic, while congratulating him for being the first country in the recovery of the post-covid industry.

“I want to thank you for your welcome in the Dominican Republic, we are delighted in this country, the sun, the sea, and each of its offers, but above all, the joy of the people,” said MAS.

He said that Quisqueya was the first long distance country to receive the French after the pandemic, and that it is one of the top 5 destinations for French vacationers.

It is recalled that Minister Collado was present during the realization of the event, where he thanked the French tourism representatives for choosing the Dominican Republic to hold the congress and for Quisqueya being their favorite long-distance destination, receiving in the month of April this year 24,839 French people, 1,500 more than in 2019.

“You have been the support of tourism in the country, and to be your hosts in these working days, for us is a source of pride and on behalf of the President of the Republic, the Cabinet of Tourism, the Ministry of Tourism and all Dominicans, thank you very much,” said David Collado.

Mercedes Castillo, director of the Office of Tourism Promotion (OPT) in France, said that the realization of this congress, where the highest level executives of French tourism companies met, is of great importance for the Dominican Republic, since it is the third largest issuing market in the arrival of tourists to the country.

“It is important for these companies to be here, because for them Quisqueya represents the first long distance destination in France and in sales, as it is also for the entire Dominican tourism sector (hoteliers, producers, artisans, excursion companies, etc.),” said Castillo.

He thanked all the participants for their presence, because by getting to know the country first hand and through their comments, they become ambassadors and this facilitates the work so that more French tourists continue to arrive.

During their participation in the congress, the French exhausted a wide agenda, where apart from their business rounds, they got to know the tourist offers of the country, participated in workshops, besides Bavaro, visited the Saona Island, Miches, the Colonial City of Santo Domingo.

A part of the participants arrived in the country prior to the date of the event, carrying out a pre-congress, that is, they visited several tourist destinations and a group of travel agents will continue a post-congress and will visit Samaná, Santo Domingo and Santiago.

Among the participating companies were Airfrance, Air Caraibes, Iftm- Top Resa, Avis, Corsair, Train Air, Presence assistance tourisme, Voyages Loisiris Etudes, among others.
