President Luis Abinader began his agenda this Tuesday by participating in the opening of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), whose welcoming remarks were given by UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.
The President of the General Assembly, Dennis Francis, then took the floor, while the first presidents to take their turns were the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, and the President of the United States, Joe Biden.
The Dominican President’s speech is scheduled for 3:00 pm this Wednesday.
The President is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez and the Dominican ambassador to the United Nations, José Blanco; the director of Strategy and Communication, Homero Figueroa; the President’s personal assistant, Lourdes Herrera, together with the director of the CUSEP and his personal security, General (ERD) Jimmy Arias Grullón.
After leaving the General Assembly hall, President Abinader will hold a bilateral meeting with the head of the Government of the Principality of Andorra, Xavier Espot Zamora.
At 12:20 pm he will meet with Robert D. Manfred Jr., commissioner of Major League Baseball (MLB), and later he will have another bilateral meeting with William Ruto, president of the Republic of Kenya.
President Abinader will also attend the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom event at Florida International University and the reception hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden.
