The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, started work on the reconstruction of the access road to Macao beach, in this tourist center, with an investment of some 36 million pesos.
The project, which is being carried out through the Executing Committee of Infrastructures of Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR) of the MITUR, consists of the road adaptation of 1.2 km of El Macao street, from the Higüey-Macao highway, to the access leading to the beach, in the municipal district of Verón, Punta Cana.
The Minister of Tourism said that with this intervention, a long-standing demand of the residents of this tourist pole is being met and said that the work will have a great economic impact among small and medium-sized entrepreneurs.
“For us the most important thing, in small works like this, is the impact they have on the people who work here. It is directly improving their income, which is reflected in a better quality of life for them and their families. This is the human face of tourism,” he said.
Within the scope of the reconstruction of the access road to Macao Beach is the recovery of the road structure, laying of asphalt wearing course, construction of sidewalks and curbs, creation of storm drainage with a system of scuppers and filtering wells, landscaping, signage and creation of green areas.
The proposed intervention consists of a standard section of two 3.00 m traffic lanes, asphalt layer, sidewalks and curbs as part of the longitudinal drainage solution, a 1.50 m wide strip for a planter on the left side, oak trees and ground cover.
In addition to Minister Collado, the event was attended by the vice ministers of MITUR; Gabriel Español Seijas, director of CEIZTUR; local and municipal authorities, among other personalities.
