Eaton company opens a hub for technical innovation in the region, first in Latin America
In a ceremony led by President Luis Abinader, smart power management company Eaton, announced today that it opened an industrial design center in the Dominican Republic’s capital city of Santo Domingo to help meet the growing demand for its electrical solutions that support the energy transition.
The center, located next to the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC) and near the company’s manufacturing facilities, features an advanced laboratory for design and development.
“We are proud to be the first electrical component manufacturer in the Dominican Republic with a center dedicated to design innovation that will also serve as a conduit for long-term engineering work in the region,”
Luis Valeiron, Eaton’s engineering manager, said.
“The work being carried out at our design center will be essential for customers throughout the Americas who are electrifying their homes, businesses and communities and will help promote the Dominican Republic’s position as a leader in the design and manufacture of essential technologies,”
Eaton has committed $3B in research and development to accelerate the development of sustainable solutions by 2030. The company’s new Santo Domingo Design Center advances this mission to help customers in the Americas accelerate a low-carbon energy future.

These collaborations are designed to strengthen technical capabilities in the region and expand opportunities for graduates of engineering programs.
