Senate approves in second reading bill that regulates Recreational Boating Tourism

The plenary of the Senate approved this Tuesday in second reading the bill which regulates the Recreational Nautical Tourism, authored by the senator for the province Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Alexis Victoria Yeb.

According to a press release sent to El Nuevo Diario, it is an innovative bill which aims to promote the nautical tourism through the regulation of the navigation of boats and nautical devices, which for recreational, particular, commercial and sporting purposes is carried out in waters of national jurisdiction, this is a tourist segment of luxury and prestige, approved in first reading last December and is considered as a transforming initiative.

“We are delighted to see approved in second reading this important bill that, as a recreational activity, will diversify the profile of our visitors and will act as a propeller of our economy,” said Senator Victoria Yeb.

He added that recreational nautical tourism is a little exploited activity in the Dominican Republic. The implementation of this action would boost the transportation sector, manufacturing and the generation of foreign exchange, necessary characteristics for the country and that could be achieved thanks to its tourism potential and its strategic location.
