The She Is Foundation will open the call for the selection of vulnerable girls to study with academic immersion at the Nasa Space Center.
The She Is Foundation announced the inclusion of the Dominican Republic in the She Is Astronaut program to select girls in vulnerable situations and integrate them into the program with academic immersion at the Nasa Space Center in Houston.
The call for the selection of participants will open on July 1st in the Dominican Republic to join the second edition of the “She is an Astronaut” program.
For the first time in the history of the Dominican Republic, they will participate in the international program “She is Astronaut” of the Colombian She Is Foundation and the NASA Space Center (Center for scientific learning and space exploration that opens the doors to NASA missions).
Those selected will have the opportunity to prepare and be inspired at the NASA Facilities in Houston, Texas, thanks to the alliance signed between the She Is Foundation and the Space Center.
The She is Astronaut program with academic immersion, is developed for 6 months with virtual classes prior to the immersion, having meet & talk and webinars with astronauts, CEO of the Space Center and high impact speakers.
This first Dominican Republic mission will end with a 5-day visit to NASA. There they will receive a curriculum and study plan, carry out training activities, interact with astronauts and have their graduation in one of the largest learning centers in the world in STEM careers as is the “NASA Space Center” in Houston.
In addition, they will work on social entrepreneurship, empowerment of girls and women, technology and innovation and sustainable development.
The program hopes to impact the Dominican territory with new projects that will create initiatives in girls, build agents of change and provide the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience to these new crew members of the first mission of “She is an Astronaut” in the Dominican Republic.
She is Astronaut
This is a program that will contribute to the transformation of the lives of hundreds of girls in the Dominican Republic by providing them with possibilities to fulfill their dreams and create sustainable projects in their territories.
In October 2019, an alliance was signed in Houston, Texas, to impact the lives of girls in Latin America who live in vulnerable situations.
The fundamental bet of this initiative is to empower, motivate and inspire them to be icons and role models for millions of girls, being the first to attend a program in this global organization that would mark the history of the Dominican Republic and of them.
This program was carried out for the first time in August 2021 in Colombia taking 31 girls, with the support of companies such as: Ecopetrol, Avon, Mastercard, UN women, Bancolombia Foundation, Goya, Women of Success Foundation, Zoraida Cadavid Institution and Vice Presidency of Colombia among others.
