Tourism initiates works in Samaná with an investment of more than 270 million pesos

David Collado inaugurated the works of access to beaches, paving, reconstruction of the fishermen’s village, lighting, sewage, among others, in the municipalities of Las Terrenas and El Limón.

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, inaugurated this Tuesday the works of several works in the municipalities of Las Terrenas and El Limón in the province of Samaná, among which are the paving of streets, lighting, beach access, reconstruction of the Pueblo de los Pescadores, sewage, among others.

These works, which will have an investment of more than 272 million pesos and are in charge of the Executing Committee of Infrastructures of Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR) of MITUR, are part of the strategic plan implemented by Minister Collado to strengthen the tourist offer of Samaná.

“After a transparent process, today we return to Las Terrenas to leave work started on the plaza of the Pueblo de los Pescadores, a true symbol of this beautiful tourist destination, blessed by nature,” said Minister Collado.

“In addition, today we are also starting the reconstruction of the access road to Estillero Beach in El Limón, so I reiterate my commitment that from the Ministry of Tourism we will be investing the necessary resources and with the transparency that characterizes us to continue promoting Samaná, which is one of the most precious destinations in our country,” said the official.

The project Plaza del Pueblo de los Pescadores is a work of an intervention area of 4,930 square meters of construction. The 190 linear meters of roadway will be paved along the entire front strip, and a 960 square meter plaza will be created to integrate the surroundings with the shops.

In addition to having 3 accesses to the beach, the project will house 10 food sales modules, as well as 2 modules for restrooms, an information point, general service rooms, lighting, and signage.

The work includes general lighting, landscaping, security system, cistern, pumping sump, speed reducers, garbage deposits and bicycle parking, among other facilities.

Meanwhile, the reconstruction of the access road to Playa Estillero, in the municipality of El Limón, consists of the rehabilitation of the two-lane road of 2.50 meters each, which connects the Estillero beach with the road to Las Terrenas, in a length of 2.45 kilometers, divided into four road axes towards the beach.

The work also includes the construction of triangular concrete ditches and slopes to form longitudinal drainage to guarantee the durability of the road to be built.

The project includes the repair of existing speed bumps, lighting, and cleaning of the road. It will also include the construction of concrete ditches, slope protection, asphalt concrete placement, and horizontal and vertical road signage.

The activities were attended by the main provincial and municipal authorities, including: Teodora Mullix, governor; mayors Eduardo Esteban of Las Terrenas and Rafi Mercado of El Limón, among other officials, businessmen and guests.
