The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, announced the reconstruction and rescue of La Caleta National Underwater Park, located in the province of Santo Domingo.
The official made the announcement after making a visit to the park to coordinate the start of the work with technicians from the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).
“La Caleta Park will be the first and last stop for Dominicans and tourists in Santo Domingo. One more corner of the Dominican Republic that we are going to protect and promote”, he said.
He said that the works in the park include the renovation of the museum, restaurant and parking areas, as well as the conditioning of roads, the pier and the different recreational areas such as the beach and the diving area.
He indicated that the work is part of an urban planning vision and the recovery of emblematic public spaces in the tourist spots that Mitur is executing.
The project will be executed by the Executing Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (Ceiztur), and contemplates the reconstruction of La Caleta National Underwater Park and its surroundings, with a projected intervention divided into six zones, with a general intervention area of approximately 119,925.5 square meters.
