The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo announced that it will change its visa service provider as of September 23, 2024. However, appointments for immigrant and non-immigrant visas will remain valid.
The entity requested all citizens to remain attentive to the information that will be published, in an updated manner, to guide citizens on how the change could affect them, stressing that no changes will be made in any appointment of services to U.S. citizens.
Similarly, the embassy explained that it will not be possible to make payments in cash from August 31 to September 22, 2024 or by card from September 13, however, from September 23, it will be possible to make the payment of fees on the new website and at the same bank using the new payment details that will be provided.
The Visa Application Center (VAC) is the place contracted by the Embassy to take biometric data and photographs. They can also receive documents to send to the American entity, passports for interview waiver cases, and can be the passport pick-up location.
As a result of the change, VAC appointments scheduled for September 23 or later will have a new location to be informed by the embassy at a later date, but the date will not be affected.
To change the appointment, the entity requests the user to access the online scheduling system to make the change and soak in information about the transition, according to Diario Libre.
